Twenty Something
My whole life is right in front me.
I can go anywhere.
Two whole decades can’t prepare you for the moment,
When the page is blank before you,
And you’re barely even twenty-something.
Nothing’s standing in my way.
No one’s holding me back.
College ended and there’s no one here to tell me
Not to hit the bars and rent some cars.
I’ll fuck around
But then I’m gonna change the world.
It’s the generation twenty-something ascending.
We might be young. We might be poor.
But we know we deserve much more than what our parents have.
Who knows what that’ll be?
But we’re ready to discover
If there is life after the Wii.
‘Cause as long as we’re still young and fresh
And twenty-something, we’re free.
This is it. This is what’s hot.
It’s your moment. It’s your decade.
But you’re only twenty-something til you’re not.
Hurry up. Do it now.
If you don’t, if you blink,
Then it’s over.
Show me something I can get behind.
And I’m already there.
I have more free time than I know what to do with.
I’m in twenty different places
But I guess it’s ’cause I’m twenty-something.
Single with a bach’lor pad.
Now I just need a job.
I’ve got time to kill until my life becomes more real.
The time is now for wearing heels,
For roommates, drugs,
For chance encounters.
Raise a glass to the generation twenty-something ascending.
We might be young. we might be poor.
But we know we deserve much more than what our parents have.
Who knows what that’ll be?
We’re the target demographic.
We’re the reason for tv.
We’re obsessively and definitely twenty-something and free.
Don’t think about tomorrow,
There’s enough to do today.
I’m young, smart, on my way.
This is my day.
You blinked.
You’re not twenty-something.
This is it. This is what’s hot.
It’s your moment. It’s your decade.
But you’re only twenty-something til you’re not.
Hurry up. Do it now.
If you don’t, if you blink,
Then it’s over.
Don’t think about tomorrow,
There’s enough to do today.
I’m young, smart, on my way.
This is my day.
You blinked.
You’re not twenty-something.
Raise a glass to the generation twenty-something ascending.
We might be young. we might be poor.
But we know we deserve much more than what our parents have.
Who knows what that’ll be?
When you’re twenty you’re just starting…
When you’re twenty-four…
You’re twenty-five…
You’ll never feel more perfect when life starts at twenty-three.
Because we’re ready and we’re waiting
And we’re twenty-something and free.

What happened in your birth year?
In 1990, the world was a different place.
There was no Google yet. Or Yahoo. Or Stumbleupon, for that matter.
In 1990, the year of your birth, the top selling movie was Ghost. People buying the popcorn in the cinema lobby had glazing eyes when looking at the poster.
Remember, that was before there were DVDs. People were indeed watching movies in the cinema, and not downloading them online. Imagine the packed seats, the laughter, the excitement, the novelty.
Do you know who won the Oscars that year? The academy award for the best movie went to Dances with Wolves. The Oscar for best foreign movie that year went to Journey of Hope. The top actor was Jeremy Irons for his role as Claus von Bülow in Reversal of Fortune. The top actress was Kathy Bates for her role as Annie Wilkes in Misery. The best director? Kevin Costner for Dances with Wolves.
In the year 1990, the time when you arrived on this planet, books were still popularly read on paper, not on digital devices. Trees were felled to get the word out. The number one US bestseller of the time was The Plains of Passage by Jean M. Auel. Oh, that's many years ago. Have you read that book? Have you heard of it? Look at the cover!
In 1990... The Leaning Tower of Pisa is closed to the public due to safety concerns. Time Warner is formed from the merger of Time Inc and Warner Communications Inc The United Kingdom and Argentina restore diplomatic relations after 8 years. Police seal off Brixton in South London after another night of protests against the poll tax. East Germany holds its first free elections. The United States begins broadcasting TV Martí to Cuba. Portrait of Doctor Gachet by Vincent van Gogh is sold for a record $82.5 million. The parliament of the Russian Federation formally declares its sovereignty. The Detroit Pistons defeat the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA Finals. Underwater volcano Mount Didicas erupts in the Philippines. In Rome, on the night before soccer's 1990 FIFA World Cup, the Three Tenors sing together for the first time. The event is broadcast live on television and watched worldwide by millions of people Alberto Fujimori becomes president of Peru. Nintendo releases the NES game Super Mario Bros. 3 in North America. The video game of the day was Final Fantasy.
That was the world you were born into. Since then, you and others have changed it.
The Nobel prize for Literature that year went to Octavio Paz. The Nobel Peace prize went to Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev. The Nobel prize for physics went to Jerome I. Friedman, Henry Way Kendall and Richard E. Taylor from the United States and Canada for their pioneering investigations concerning deep inelastic scattering of electrons on protons and bound neutrons, which have been of essential importance for the development of the quark model in particle physics. The sensation this created was big. But it didn't stop the planets from spinning, on and on, year by year. Years in which you would grow bigger, older, smarter, and, if you were lucky, sometimes wiser. Years in which you also lost some things. Possessions got misplaced. Memories faded. Friends parted ways. The best friends, you tried to hold on. This is what counts in life, isn't it?
The 1990s were indeed a special decade. The Nineties saw the beginnings of the World Wide Web, originating at CERN. Email becomes popular. The Soviet Union dissolved. Living standards in East Asia and Europe generally improved. The Cold War ends. Iraqi forces invade Kuwait. A UN coalition force led by the US was sent to the Persian Gulf, and aerial bombing of Iraq began. The Kosovo War took place. The Ethiopian Civil War ends. Dolly, a sheep, is cloned. The Global Positioning System GPS becomes fully operational. Genetically engineered crops are developed for commercial use. Intel develops the Pentium processor. The Java programming language is created. Microsoft released Windows 95. In Los Angeles, riots occur after the police brutality case involving Rodney King. Great Britain hands sovereignty of Hong Kong to China. East Timor breaks away from Indonesian control. US president Bill Clinton was involved in the Lewinsky scandal. Dogme 95 becomes an important artistic movement in European film. Teen soap Beverly Hills 90210 has its long run. Baywatch becomes the most watched show in history. On MTV, reality television makes its beginning. Nelson Mandela is elected president of South Africa. Germany was reunified. The prediction of computer bug Y2K spreads fear.
Do you know what was on the cover of Life that year?
Do you know the lyrics? Do you know the tune? Sing along.
There's a kid outside, shouting, playing. It doesn't care about time. It doesn't know about time. It shouts and it plays and thinks time is forever. You were once that kid.
When you were 9, the movie The 13th Warrior was playing. When you were 8, there was The Parent Trap. When you were 7, there was a Disney movie out called Mulan. Does this ring a bell?
6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... it's 1990. There's TV noise coming from the second floor. Someone turned up the volume way too high. The sun is burning from above. These were different times. The show playing on TV is America's Funniest People p. The sun goes down. Someone switches channels. There's The Bradys on now. That's the world you were born in.
Progress, year after year. Do you wonder where the world is heading towards? The technology available today would have blown your mind in 1990. Do you know what was invented in the year you were born? The World Wide Web.
Usin' and confusin' beats that ya never heard
1990, put a smile on your face like ultra bright
You're just fessin' man
I don't even wanna hear about it, you're just fessin'
...
That's from the song Best Foot Forward by DJ Shadow.
In 1990, a new character entered the world of comic books: Gambit. Bang! Boom! But that's just fiction, right? In the real world, in 1990, Emma Watson was born. And Alex Teixeira Santos. Emily Mae Young, too. And you, of course. Everyone an individual. Everyone special. Everyone taking a different path through life.
It's 2010.
The world is a different place.
What path have you taken?

We Are One Body
Earlier this year I attended a weekend for Antioch and although I was really quite sceptical at first, I went it with an open mind, as always, willing to try something new.
The state convention is basically a larger, slightly less jam packed version of the weekend. There were talks, liturgies and meds on Hope, Faith, Mission, Love, The Rosary, Sexuality and Self-image. Topics that wouldn’t normally be discussed in day to day lives, and not ever mentioned at school, for fear of offending. The talks are done by people around the same age, speaking truthfully without of fear of judgement, as there is none to give.
The people at Antioch all share similar values and they are friendly and kind, open and accepting. It’s really a lovely environment.
During one of these med, in pairs we had to answer some questions, they really got me thinking… because at that moment I really didn’t have any substantial answers to share. So with that in mind here are the questions that were posed to us:
- Tell your partner a bit about your life aims
- Describe a relationship you would like to try and improve
- Share a goal you have for the future. Concerns? Plans?
- Gifts that you have that you feel a call to share.
- How has your mood been lately? What struggles will you need to return to after the Convention?
- What gifts would you like to have?
- Share a world issue that concerns you. How can you use your gifts to make the world better?
- Name someone who inspires you… what gifts do you see in them?
I’m not going to lie; I did answer some of them, not to the extent that I wanted to. Some I was not able to answer because I genuinely didn’t know what I could say.
So I’ve decided that an aim that I want to achieve is to be able to answer these questions with clean decisive answers.

Sorrento...again...
The weather was a bit shit but that doesn't matter, because we had heat floors! I love the kitchen, it has a huge island bench, a open layout dining room and sitting room. Thelounge room is located a few steps up and then the bedrooms are off from there. I always have a fab time, very relaxing, with good times always. We also went to the Sorrento Day Spa, which was fabulously relaxing, five pools of different from 37 Degrees up. Definatly worth another visit.
What I like most about these trips is that even though we don't really see the people too often, it's always comfortable.
Double Rainbow....
Eyeko..... places....
Anywho... This is what I ordered from Eyeko, I got two free gifts becuase i put in two codes, but they were exsactly the same as the things I ordered... of well they will make great presents.
My set of 12
(From L to R: Indigo, Vampira, Cosmic, Saucy,Coral, Vintage, Lilac, Nude,Posh, Tea-Rose,Petite and Rain)
I haven't tried them out yet, but from the reviews I've seen and read, they are very good quality and most are opaque with two layers. Can't to try them out and will definatly post pics.
This is suppose to turn any eyeshadow into liquid eyeliner. Which is a very cool concept. I recieved two of these, as one was a gift. I tried it out and it works quite well didn't really wear it long enough to check its longevity, but the colour was very true to the eyeshadow colour. The only problem i found with it was that you have to remember to wipe down the wand before you put it back or you will contaminate the product.

You've got Mail...
(think I mentioned them in a previous post)
I love them both although the 'BbC' is a little on the large side.
The Ann Arbor T-Shirt Company made the VPM t-shirt, and on the receipt there was a hilarious stamp that said '"Warning: This Package is full of Awesome." and then at the bottom hand written it says, "Thanks! You're the best!". I thinkt hat is gorgeous and really add a personal touch to the service!
BTDubs... I am aware I am a major nerd, with too much free time.

Looks who's finished!
I now have a list of things to complete, which I won't post on here becuase some of the things are a little bit embarassing. But a lot I have been putting off for half a year, like renewing my passport and so forth.
I'm really liking Sia's new album 'We Are Born, which is definatly more pop-y then her last.
Also my new but old TV show Hotel Babylon, it's fuinny becuase I know those things actually happen, and plus it's English. Who doesn't love a good british accent.
So off to cross somethings off my list, Clean my room is up there as well, wish me luck.

Give me freedom, Give me Fire, Give me reason, Take me Higher
I am loving the world cup, I love the late and sleepless nights, or early mornings. I love having conversations to randoms about last night's game and finals predictions. Everyone seems to be getting into the spirit of things, it really is the world game.
